Memorial Day

I really think that they should switch Memorial Day and Labor Day. We always seem to spend Memorial Day working our tails off to get the yard and the house looking good for the summer and the good weather that is to come. We spent our weekend trying to grow a lawn in the back yard, painting the front porch, planting flowers and all sorts of other chores. So shouldn't this be Labor Day weekend? At the end of the summer wouldn't it be nice to sit around and remember all the fun you had in the past months and we could call that Memorial Day? Nonetheless we had a nice weekend, the weather was great and we got a lot accomplished. We even had time to go see the Norwood parade, it was only the last 5 minutes of it, but David got to see the drums. He was also very impressed that Pa used to march with the men in the parade and play the drums. We tried to correct him and tell him Pa played the fife, but he was more impressed with the drums, so we will let him think that instead.

We followed the end of the parade up to the cemetery to listen to the Memorial Day speeches. We made a special stop on the way and paid a visit to Papa. Here is 3 generations of Saulnier men, not to mention all 3 Davids.

I must include some photos of the babes as I missed James in the last post. Here they are in their Memorial Day outfits (Thanks JoJo!!).

It's been a busy month

May is always a very busy month in our house and this one was no exception. Mommy started back to work, notice the lag in postings.... We had Mother's Day, Daddy and Mommy both celebrated our birthdays, our cousin Bridget turned 1 and of course there was Memorial Day too. We both had very nice birthdays this year that started with breakfast in bed, presents and David singing "Happy Birthday" followed by incessant questioning of when we would be having the birthday cake! He is a boy after my own heart. If he could have it his way, he would be having cake all day long on his birthday. Daddy spent his day golfing and Mommy spent hers with a pedicure (thanks MB!) and shopping. It was so nice to have an adult day out. Here are pictures from both our birthdays, please notice the difference when Mommy is in charge of getting the birthday cake as opposed to Daddy...

P.S. My real cake was an ice cream cake, we didn't want it to melt with all my candles....

EEK!!

Talking to a 2 1/2 year old is one of the most interesting experiences I have ever had. I should really write down more of what David says, he is just too funny. Today on one of his favorite shows they told a knock-knock joke that ended with singing "I've been working on the railroad" which is one of David's favorite songs, especially the fe-fi-fiddle-i-o part... So I decided to try and teach him the joke to tell, this is how it went....

Mommy: David, say "knock knock"

David: Knock knock

Mommy: Now Mommy says "who's there?"

and before I could tell him his next line, he cut me off with

David: Auntie

We had a play date over the weekend and they brought us some delicious cupcakes (thanks again Amy!!). Today David realized we had them. He begged and begged me for some cake, as he called it. I cut a quarter of the cupcake for him to have. I was busy doing dishes when I hear David after a few minutes start saying "Eek!" over and over. I turn to find him looking like this...

It's a good thing I didn't give him more than a quarter and thank goodness it was bath night!!

3 months!!

Yesterday Cate and James turned 3 months, it is so hard for us to believe! Some days it feels like they arrived yesterday and there are other days when I think they should be walking and talking by now.... What is even more strange for us, is that this is how old David was when he finally came home. How did we ever do that? It seems like a lifetime ago. So here is our photo shoot from yesterday, enjoy!
